Product Description

An effective unit for mid-size areas, this 7,800-Btu air conditioner from Panasonic features an energy-efficient construction and a range of comfort settings. Sized for between 300 and 350 square feet, the unit is operated with a straightforward soft touch digital panel or the included remote control for extra convenience. Its settings include cool, economy, fan, and dry, and a temperature range from 60 to 86 degrees F. In addition, three fan speeds and an oscillating air distribution system help maximize circulation. The 12-hour timer, programmable in 1-hour intervals, is among the unit's best features and can be set to turn the machine on or power it down. To simplify maintenance, the air conditioner comes with a removable intake grille, and its slide-out chassis facilitates installation. For window installation, it requires a horizontal opening between 22 and 36 inches and a vertical opening of 15 inches. It can also be installed through the wall, though professionals are recommended for this procedure. Panasonic includes a one-year warranty on parts and labor and a five-year warranty on the sealed refrigeration system. --Emily Bedard

5Works very well and is very quiet. Excellent choice.
I bought this air conditioner after trying the fedders that most discount stores seem to sell. The comparable sized fedders/maytag is loud. The panasonic is whisper quiet. Since this unit was going in our bedroom that was important.

The panasonic is quiet, it works well, and it has some great features (remote, auto air swing, delay timer for on/off) The assembly is a little more involed than many units, but not unmanagable. This little unit even came with a mounting sleeve and leveling feet. You just install the sleeve, adjust the angle, and screw it in. Then, once the adjustments are done, slide the main unit in to the case.

I was shocked and horrified by the noise of the fedders/maytag. I returned it where I bought it. The panasonic is much better, and was only about 20% more money. Well worth it in my book.

Oh yeah, there was one quirk. On low fan speeds you could hear water splashing around. I didn't like that sound. Fortunately panasonic gives you a choice. You can remove a plug, install the provided spout, and lower the water level. This will decrease the efiiciency slightly (still better than many competing units) and it will silence the water sound from the "sling cooling". It was nice of Panasonic to give us both options.

I highly recommend this unit!

5Quiet Performer
Installed this unit in a bedroom, it lives up to its name. It is one of the quietest room air conditioners for its cost. This unit is only a somewhat nosier than the room fan we often use, and much quieter than the previous ac unit that was installed.
Its excellant value and about half the price of ac units that are advertised as being whisper quiet.......has all the features you want.......including an air swing feature.....highly recommended.

5Pretty good unit
I'm not an air conditioner expert, but I will tell you that it's an ok unit. Installation was a b**** and the parts didn't really fit my window. I had to make due with putting bricks under the unit outside since the supports didn't fit. But who knows, one day it may fall down onto the sidewalk because I couldn't use a lot of the parts used to secure the unit.

The only complaint I really have is that you really can't control the direction of the air since there is no way to vertically adjust the way it blows. So unfortunately, the air blows forward and because of the positioning of my window, i waste a lot of the cold air because it hits the wall on one side. My desk is in front of the unit and that area freezes and the air blows directly on me. How hard would it have been for Panasonic to put in a vertical adjustment? It's a cheap part.

It's really energy efficient (10.8.... which is NOT stated on this site), which is great and the remote is a good function if you're feeling lazy, and often I am. The remote buttons are easier to push than on the unit so it is nice to have it.

The timer thing is cool though I haven't tried it yet. Overall, a great unit for the price other than the annoying unadjustable vertical thingy.

Hope this thing doesn't pop out the window tho.
