| | Description: Beautiful enough for the table and durable enough to outlive its lifetime warranty against defects, this heavy, round, 13-quart French oven is perfect for preparing and ceremoniously serving dishes like cassoulet and vegetable soup. It's made of cast iron, with both exterior and interior clad in two coats of enamel. As cast iron is unexcelled for heat distribution and retention and enamel is impervious to acids and odors, the oven (or casserole) browns and cooks food uniformly and gently without hot spots and can be used for marinating. It's safe on any stovetop, including induction, and dishwasher-safe. The plastic knob on its heavy, tight-fitting lid is ovenproof to 450 degrees F. Like all Le Creuset cast-iron products, it's hand cast in a one-of-a-kind sand mold and hand finished at the Le Creuset factory in France. It carries a lifetime warranty against defects and measures 16-1/2 by 13-3/4 by 8 inches. --Fred Brack | | | | Accessories for Le Creuset 13-Quart Round French Oven, Cherry Red Check the box to include an item with your order.

| | Average Customer Review: Based on 1 reviews. | | Versatile This is indeed a large pot, but I have found it extremely useful and use it at least once a week. I didn't want a large number of pots and pans, so I looked for versatile pieces. We are just 2 in our household right now, but I bought this size mostly because it will be even more useful for the future - a family, company. I use it to cook many things that I start on the stovetop and finish in the oven. For example, to brown chicken pieces on the stovetop, add herbs, ingredients, etc, and bake it in the oven. The heavy tight fitting lid keeps the steam locked in and the food moist. I bake entire chickens in it when I am short on time (skin isn't very crispy, though)- it really cooks a whole 4-lb chicken in about half an hour at 450 degrees with the pot and oven preheated. Works great with chili, soups, beans, tomato-based sauces, even jams. The cast iron heats slow and holds heat in - I don't burn anything in this. Clean-up is so easy! |
