4Fast, decent quality, May 18, 2023
I use this printer with an eMac running OS X 10.3 and primarily use it to print simple documents such as word processing files, web pages and e-mails. For that purpose it is great: very fast and high-quality output. However, if you work in graphic design you will find its lack of PostScript support disappointing. PDFs and print outs from InDesign are beautiful and very sharp; they just take a long time to render since the printer is "dumb" and the print driver has to draw everything.

But, unlike other low-cost laser printers, I have never had a problem with paper misfeeds or the printer loading multiple pages at a time. Like other reviewers have mentioned, this printer is not suitable for sharing and printing high volumes at a business. But it is great for home use. I've had it in my office for nearly a year and am still using the original toner cartridge. Try that with an ink jet!

5Stop looking, buy this printer NOW!, May 14, 2023
This printer is half the size of my last one, it's very quiet, very fast, and prints are excellent. No bells and whistles, just quality prints, just like I wanted! Does NOT include USB cable, so you have to buy one! Had to install the driver software twice before I got my PC to detect and install it properly.

5Great little machine, May 8, 2023
This is a great printer if you 1) don't print large volumes of and 2) you are limited on space. As an added bonus, original HP toner for this printer is pretty reasonable $62-65.

I am a small business owner and I probably print 10-20 pages per day. This unit is fast and the quality is excellent. It was easy to set up - got to love easy to install drivers and plug and play USB!

If you are looking to print a lot, I would look at a higher volume machine. One pet peeve is that HP, like many other companies, refuse to include a USB cable.

1MAC OS 9.x Owners Beware!, May 2, 2023
This printer offers great output within its limitations as described in the many reviews here. However, it is NOT Mac OS 9.2.2 friendly. After installing the printer drivers it destabilized my iMac and slows it down substantially everytime I boot up. While I can successfully print, it is a gigantic headache because of output /format glitches (constant page re-formatting, garbled text, and weirdly, arbitrary increases in font size), and will crash your computer if you try to do something else while it's s-l-o-w-l-y printing. Unless you plan to print very simple documents or the occasional letter, I do not recommend this for Mac OS 9.x owners. Of course, if you do windoze or maybe OS X, you might luck out. However, with so many choices out there (Brother printers seem to be especially good for macs), why bother?

5I highly reccomend this printer, May 1, 2023
As a student, I love this printer. I print a lot of documents, e.g. scholarly work from online journal archives, my own essays and drafts of these essays, syllabi, etc. The print quality is great and the options are very good. I was tempted to buy a printer with automatic printing on both sides, but the manual is very simple. It prints _all_ the odd pages, and then you just pick up the stack and put it in the bottom feeder and push a button and it prints all the evens on the other side. Very convenient. I've printed almost a thousand pages on the starter cartridge with absolutely no problems. It is also very fast, and prints images pretty well in black and white. If you want a sub-$200 laser printer this is the best money can buy.
