Editorial Reviews:
Editorial Review This durable little unit packs in a lot of functions, all of them eminently kid-friendly. Most basically, its a tape player that can be easily operated with big, colorful buttons, but its also a kind of karaoke machine, letting kids use the included microphone to sing along with the music, or sing a cappella. As if that wasnt enough, there are multiple settings to warp your voice to sound like a monster, robot, bunny, or Martian. You might have to use your imagination to hear how some of the settings sound like what theyre supposed to (and what does a bunny sound like anyway?), but once you start experimenting with Voice Warp, its addictive fun even if youre a big person. Dont worry though, you can turn the filter off to hear your normal voice. --David Stoesz |

Playback broke very quickly, Apr 18, 2023 As at least one other person noted, there is sometimes too much feedback when singing in to the mike. The unit seams built very strongly and is very heavy (too heavy to be carried and played with at the same time), but after very little use, the play button has stopped functioning on the tape player.

Way Too Much Feedback, Apr 11, 2023 I read the other reviews and decided to buy this toy for my three and a half year-old daughter for Christmas. What a disappointment! There was so much feedback it was impossible to use. It squealed loudly no matter how we held the microphone. This is also a very heavy toy. I bought a similar recorder (...) at the drugstore...though not as durable, we use it all the time with no squealing problems.

Tons of Warped Wacky Fun, Mar 27, 2023 I bought this tape player for my daughter at X-mas and she loves it. She likes to talk so I figured she'd enjoy hearing the sound of her own voice, and she does. She really loves the "Robot" and "Monster" settings because they make her voice sound so different. Quite a few of the adults in the family played with it too.
The toy looks extremely durable, so I'm not too worried about her breaking it. She's usually very good with it anyway.
We haven't played with the cassette player much because cassettes are becoming an endangered species, but we have borrowed a few read-along tapes at the library and she enjoys listening to those.
All in all, I would highly recommend this as a gift to your child. I think even older kids (some way older than others) would appreciate it too.

Great recorder, just one problem, Feb 6, 2023 My 5 year old daughter really loves this tape recorder. It plays well, and she loves the voice warp feature (as everyone in the family does). My one complaint is that you must continuously hold down the fast-forward or reverse button to get it to fast-forward or reverse. Her finger (and mine) gets tired when she wants to rewind a tape to hear the same side again. If that were changed, I'd give the recorder 5 stars across the board.

Tape Eater, Jan 4, 2023 This toy was purchased for our three-year-old grandson for Christmas. He absolutely loves music and we were looking forward to him being able to control his own music. We bought CDs and taped them for him.
What a big disappointment. This so called tape player ate three tapes in a row.
I'd think twice before purchasing this toy.
