Amazon.com If you are tired of struggling to make ends meet but don't know a 401(k) from Special K, this book is for you. Aimed specifically at "Generation Broke"--those in their twenties and thirties who are working yet buried in credit card debt and student loans--this user-friendly guide offers a clear introduction to practical investing and money management techniques that can turn even a dismal financial situation around. Bestselling author Suze Orman has a knack for taking the fear out of money matters, and in The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous &: Broke, she shows readers how to set priorities and achieve goals, whether it is to buy a house or save for retirement or pay for a child's education. She also offers inspiration to readers to face their financial problems and get started on a solution. After all, there is good news: young people still have the time to correct problems so that they will never be broke again. Readers who find terms such as diversification and IRA rollover scary--or worse, unimportant--will learn much from this book. In these pages, Orman clearly and succinctly explains what a FICO score is and why it's so important, offers the lowdown on stocks and mutual funds, provides career advice, and offers lots of tips on dealing with student loan debt, saving money even when times are tight, debt consolidation strategies, and the safest way for newlyweds to merge their finances. She also offers information on credit cards, including why canceling cards is not a good idea, when it makes sense to use them, and the best strategies for paying them off. It may not be the only money book you'll ever need, but it's an excellent place to start. --Shawn Carkonen All About Suze Orman The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke is financial expert Suze Orman's answer to a generation's cry for help. Surviving in America Today, Apr 28, 2023 Despite the common sense and ideas promoted in this book, nothing can hide the disgrace of it's having to be written in the first place. For generations of past "Americans," the country was an avenue of social mobility for millions of people who had "hope." Education, hard work, and self discipline was cause for celebration for parents and children alike to look forward to a future of prosperity and comfortable living. What changed, and who changed it? Wealth today, for too many, arrived through exploitation, fraud, illicit activities, lottery, or chance. The mismanagement of America is perhaps one of the saddest outcomes for a nation known throughout the world to be one of a great economy, tremendous potential, and a bright future. For the young, this stolen future can be considered little more than the worst international disgrace of human kind more as economic and psychological cannibalism than that imposed upon any generation on earth ever. If ever there was a measure of capitalism, it is the reality of the author's own experience at 29 in her own beginnings that has made this book and the circumstances of its writing as heartbreaking, unfair priorities, and a warning to everyone, of what this nation has become, through the negligence of its indulgence for failed leaders, and failed leadership. It is no cause for celebration, but the outgrowth of the wake up call that has long been denied and ignored. For too many women, the story is no different than when the author began, and which is gradually consuming also our men, most of whom are not optimistic about marriage and fatherhood because of the heavy burdens of life in America today.

A neccessity for any financially clueless 20-something, Apr 23, 2023 I have always been a little financially challenged but this book really gave me hope on how to become established financially. It is very clearly written and a fun read too! I was really impressed with how in-touch Suze is with young people. I would suggest buying a new copy so you get access to the interactive web program. I've always had anxiety about anything related to money. It's even affected my self-esteem to a certain extent, but after the first couple of pages, I couldn't put it down. The only thing it lacked for me was self-employment; obviously, most YFBers are working for someone so it is no suprise that it was not addressed in the book.

I wish I had this book earlier!, Apr 20, 2023 I think this book is a must have for 20-30 year olds. It is so well laid out and organized and most importantly EASY to understand. I don't find myself nodding off while reading it as with other books in the finanacial category...and most importantly, it is a book that doesn't sit in the closet after it's been read...I have found myself pulling it back out to refer to it several times. Very good book!

She is definitely helping me get all my ducks in a row!, Apr 13, 2023 Let's face it, being young, fabulous and broke seems to be a sign of the times and most of us just want to put our heads in the sand and forget about our mounting student loan debt, credit card debt, and lack of a secure financial future via a great-paying job or the prospect of social security. Suze uses this book to yank our heads out of the ground, shake the sand off and point us CLEARLY in the right directions to take financial responsibility of our future and reconcile it with our sordid, debt-filled past. She does this in plain speech that is neither patronizing or condescending. Included with the book is an access code to a personalized online action planner that is tailored to help you take those scary first steps towards taking responsibility for improving your financial situation. I trust her judgement and would highly recommend this book to anyone who is young, fabulous and broke (but wants to ditch that last part.)
