3Mis-guided, Apr 24, 2023
This guide must have been rushed. It's full of more errors than the game has glitches. If your a hardened Grand Theft fan, you'll find this a set back. If your new to Grand Theft Auto then you may come to hate the game as much as top players hate the guide. The maps pin pointing locations of Tags, Photos, Oysters, and Horseshoes are so poorly marked that you may be driven to give up the idea of completing with 100%. Equally, the guide leaves out crucial tips that define the outcome of certain actions. In short, this guide is not worth buying. You'll be much better off simply looking up tips on your computer.

Quick Tip: When getting the oysters in front of the aircraft carrier and the center of the enclosed docking Bay in San Fierro you'll get an automatic five stars. Try this, (1) Drive off the cliff at the closes corner of the airport (2) Get the helicopter and land it inside the base of the red bridge (3) Get the nearby speedboat and go for the docking bay first (back in so that you can get out quickly) next go for the front of the carrier (4) get back to the copter (because of the height of the base the police boats can't shoot you) and take off for the paint & spray next to the train station. (5) (this part is tricky) Try to fly the copter into the paint & spray. The copter will scrap the walls but once the door closes, your set. Abandon the copter and save the game. two oysters for the efforts of one.

I do not know what every one elese thought about this guide but my personal opinion was that the author of it was on crack!!! I was searching for all the tags and #80 was labled wrong. Trying to find all of the photo ops was real fun when you look at the first one and it says its over looking the airport but you look on the map and it's not even close to it.......... same kind of idea for the horse shoes a few not in the places they say they are. I thought mabey I was playing a diffrent version but its a North American release. I payed way too much for this book for it not to diliver what I most wanted 100% completion! I wish I could get my money back???

OK, if you want 100%, you will probably need to buy this guide. Being somewhat a purist, I waited until I had finished all the missions before I bought it, just for "clean-up". I don't think I would have EVER finished without it. Oysters are a great example, jumps as well.

HUGE GRIPE: There are SO many mistakes in this thing. They must have been on a super-tight deadline, had a fourth-grade class proof it, or both. Body armor that is on the map, but not in the game. Body armor that is in the game but not on the map. Same is true for wanted stars, and I understand photo-ops as well. VERY annoying!!! If they are going to call this the OFFICIAL guide, proof the sob!

It is, however, like a mechanic. Eventually you will need one to get from point A to point B. It also tells you what is, and more importantly, what IS NOT necessary for 100%. example: I spent many hours trying to find all the unique jumps (good luck on your own, you'll need it) only to find out they are not required for 100%.

Brady should be FORCED to issue an ammendment with ALL corrections to everyone who payed way too much for it. My advise? Get one at Target or someplace other than a game store with a minimal markup. I'm out!

4Minor inaccuracies hinder this from being a great guide., Jan 22, 2023
The strategy guide to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is useful, despite its inaccuracies on some of the maps. While internet guides are incredibly helpful (and I encourage gamers to use them, by all means), the internet guides are often not at one's fingertips while playing the game, something this guide can make up for.

That is a huge plus. Now, on to the inaccuarate maps I mentioned above. A little research on the Web turned up that the locations of the collection items like horseshoes, photo ops, etc. are not labeled wrong in their placement on the map, but the numbering sequence is out of order.

For example, the screenshots in the guide label photo op #2 as being on top of an airport storage tank north of Foster Valley. The photo op is there, but it is incorrectly labeled as #32 on the San Fierro map, while photo op #2 is labeled on the map as located near Avispa Country Club. In short: The placement is right, the numbers are wrong, and that's why I give this guide four stars.

Apart from those errors, the guide can be a helpful thing to have at your side while playing the game, and it can provide some tips and help one become familiar with the game.
