4A nice companion piece, Mar 1, 2023
I'm usually not the kind to shell out money for strategy guides, but my friend bought me the RE4 book as a way of celebrating this huge achievement in gaming. Author Dan Birlew has written a great guide that makes the game a blast to play through without spoiling any of the plot points. Of particular use are the map diagrams, which show you the location of every treasure in the game. This is particularly important if you want to upgrade all your weapons or enlarge your case, which would otherwise take a much longer time to accomplish. Elsewhere Birlew offers you advice on the safest way to dispose of enemies that you might not think of in the heat of battle, or what items to sell off and when. There's also some insider info on how certain events are triggered, so you don't suddenly increase the amount of enemies in an area just by simply stepping into a room.

There are a few inconsistencies here and there with regards to item placement (book lists magnum bullets when I found rifle, for example), but it only pops up in two or three places and otherwise the guide matches the game to a tee. This strategy guide certainly isn't a required buy, as the game isn't that mentally taxing to finish without it, but if you're a Resident Evil collector or you feel like splurging on an A-list game, you can't go wrong with this guide.

5Fantastic Guide, Full of Infor!!!, Jan 25, 2023
This is a awesome guide... It lists out every single detail you need to know to complete the game. Gives you scenarios and advice of what is the best possible way to beat your foes....You will get the chance to witness and learn about your enemies thru this guide....If you are having a tough time not knowing which weapons to used, then this is the guide for you. All the strategic strategy outlaid in this guide will help you navigate and play thru your game with ease but of course even though the guides tells you what to do, it doesn't mean you will complete the game with flying colors. The controller is in your hand so you are the player, decide which best walk thru to get your thru easily. Brady games' guide are always very detailed and easily understood. This guide will definitely help you in your quest for world peace in RE4!!!

5Much better guide than I expected, Jan 14, 2023
Normally, I don't like the Brady Strategy Guides. However, this magazine is excellent. The maps are clear and detailed. The walk through reads very well. The double-sided poster would look great on anyone's wall.

Why should you buy a guide when the info can be found online?

I think guides are better because it is much easier to quickly refer to a guide instead of searching through computer print outs.

Do you need the guide to win the game?

No, you don't. Unlike previous games in the series, Resident Evil 4 has very little back tracking. Many of the puzzles aren't too difficult either. However, if you are like me and don't enjoy spending 30 minutes trying to figure out a puzzle or boss, buy the guide. Plus, the guide offers several hints and clues that are very helpful.
