4Best Madden ever, Jan 19, 2023
One of my favorite Xbox games along with ESPN NBA
Basketball 2k4. I really don't think a NFL game can
get much better than this. There is nothing like
playing a franchise mode in the NFL Madden. You
have what seems to be unlimited create players
and it sure helps in NFL Madden. And you have
the ownership mode. Is there really any reason
to play any other mode?? You control the cap, the
parking prices, food etc..... You add things to
the stadiums to help draw fans and you can even
move the franchise(Which really isn't a good idea
until you have played several seasons) to other
locations to draw better crowds.

The action is really good and pretty realistic. I
haven't seen all this 30 sack nonsense that one
poster claimed. Sure the offensive line struggles
to block at times, but that's why you need good WR's
to make plays in a hurry. Also, having good TE's
seems to help. Also, to help the offensive struggles
I get a moble QB as you do sort of seem like a sitting
duck with a Kerry Collins or Kurt Warner as a QB.

I like that you can create a good deep playbook. To
be honest, I'm a playaction pass type of guy. I love
to use the run to set up the pass and there is alot
of plays that fits my desire. One thing that bothers
me is that the computer doesn't use the running game
very well. They often abandon in it favor of the pass
which results in alot of sacks and unbalanced passing
stats.

I would suggest this game to any NFL gamers and after
this one you probably will not need to buy another NFL
game for a long time. Just too much fun with the owner
mode and the spring training mode.

5The best football game out there but not much improved......, Jul 24, 2023
I have to say that madden 2004 is the best football game and i can't wait to get 2005. But the difference between madden 2003 and madden 2004 was very slim. John and Al commentating basically stayed the same and the graphics improvement was minimal. The good things are that it is the most fun game in the world. Also the new playmaker controls and the stadium upgrades. It is an amazing game but similar to the 2003 version....

5Gets Better EVERY year!, Jun 16, 2023
So awesome. If you dont have it, its a MUST have. Out of all the other football games on XBOX, this game really shows em up. I love the mini-camp at the beginning of every franchise year. You can excell your players in every category. The Owner Mode lets you get a small feeling for leading your team to a super bowl. I have played NFL 2k3 and that game is no good. The players have frekin square helmets. Like i said, if you dont have madden 2004...GET IT. and get MADDEN 2005! o thats gonna be soooo awesome. later

4WORST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!, May 21, 2023
I wasn't turned on to Madden until the '98 version when my neighbor let me play. I'll admit, it was a great game (key word "was".)I played Madden up to 2001. Then, another friend hipped me to NFL Football 2k1. I was hooked. My new mind frame was "Madden who?!?!?!" Anyway...I did play every Madden that came out since 2001, and they just didn't compare to the 2k series. Then, this past year, it was the battle of the two games. EA Sports put out 2004, and Sega put out ESPN Football 2k4. Keep in mind that Madden got it's start with Sega. Obviously, I played 2k4 and was hooked. I wanted to be open and see what the competition had to offer. Madden 2004 had some good features; Owner mode, training camp, and my personal favorite, making new uniforms for the squad. But that's about all it had to offer. THe gameplay was horible. Compared to 2k4, it moved entirely too slow. The special moves were garbage and it was impossible to get a tackle, sack, or catch/intercept a pass. Plus, 2k4 has two things that Madden will never be able to match: First person mode and the Crib. And with the simple fact that ESPN is involved with the game catapolts this game! Two words: Chris Bearman! In my opinion, Madden 204 makes NES Football look great. ESPN Football dwarfs Madden, PERIOD! Any true gamer can play each game and tell that ESPN is superior. For all you Madden loyalists, I respect how you feel, but it's time for you to wake up and smell the coffee. Sega Sports realized that Madden wasn't the way to go. Sega sports reinvented football gaming, and its name is ESPN Football.

2The A.I. is on steroids, Mar 11, 2023
I have always been a big fan of the series and I love the mini camp drills, i think thats a brilliant idea. The ability to set concession prices, hats, etc. is also a clever addition. The graphics are solid, though still need tweaking but I feel as if I am playing Madden 2004 Blitz. I am sick and tired of the computers magical ability to erase any deficit in the 4th quarter. Mind you, I have been playing football games, including Madden, for years.

I have had the Cardinals come back to beat me in the 4th quarter, erasing a 24 point lead. This quarter from hell included, 1. a blocked punt, 2. a punt returned for a td, 3. 2 fumbles by my rb (Ahman green) who was running great until this dreadful quarter. 4. a td return for a td 5. and a game winning 90 yard drive by the cardinals.

Sure this can happen once, twice, whatever. But when I constantly lose 4th quarter leads over and over again, it annoys me. I love games that are hard but this computer assistance borders on the surreal and it is enough for me to spoil an otherwise terrific game.

One last gripe, too much room for the QB to run. This is not NCAA. I think this was done to appease Mike Vick fans and I guess I can understand and live with that.
