My five year old loves this toy! I can see why, they are really cool. It's great to see a toy that he is passionate about. For five year olds I would say they are educational because they can follow the directions/pictures to put them together. Plus he wants to go on the computer to learn all about the bionicles.

My son loves these bionicles, and they're a great traveling companions for long trips because he can put them together and take them apart to make new creatures. But this is a warning, I had no clue that there were good bionicles and bad bionicles. This group are apparently the bad guys. I was informed that I had to buy more so that he was even between bad and good bionicles. Check with the kids to see which kind they need before you buy, they'll know. Hours of fun and entertainment without being plugged in to a computer or a video game.
