The Wrong Trousers
Clay-animation master Nick Park deservedly won the 1993 Academy Award for Best Animated Short for this 30-minute masterpiece, in which the good-natured inventor Wallace and his trusty dog, Gromit, return for another grand adventure. It all begins on the morning of Gromit's birthday, when Wallace gives his beloved pooch the gift of his latest invention--a pair of mechanical "techno-trousers" that can be programmed to take Gromit out for "walkies" while Wallace sits comfortably at home. Gromit's not exactly thrilled with the new gadget, and things go from bad to worse when Wallace rents a room to a new boarder--a rather suspicious-looking penguin--to offset his rising expenses. As it turns out, the penguin's a notorious thief, and the amazing techno-trousers provide a foolproof method of pulling off a diamond heist! It's Gromit's big opportunity for canine heroics, and The Wrong Trousers turns into one of the funniest, most inventive caper-comedies ever made, with an action-packed climax on a speeding miniature train. A Close Shave
Hot from the international triumph of The Wrong Trousers, clay animator Nick Park knew that his third Wallace & Gromit film was going to have to be the biggest and best adventure yet for the mild-mannered inventor Wallace and his perceptive pooch, Gromit. With the ambitiously zany plot of A Close Shave, Park and his fellow animators rose to the occasion, and their film won the 1995 Academy Award (Park's second Oscar) for Best Animated Short. This time out, Wallace & Gromit have teamed up to provide a window-washing service, and that's how Wallace meets the lovely Wendolene Ramsbottom, a wool-shop owner whose malevolent dog, Preston, turns out to be the mastermind of a sheep-napping scheme! OK, everyone's complaining about the first WALLACE AND GROMIT film which is featured as the middle feature on the DVD which combines all three animated shorts... All three were nominated for Oscars for the year they each came out and WRONG TROUSERS and A CLOSE SHAVE WON for BEST ANIMATED SHORT in their year... But while A GRAND DAY OUT seems to be the "unfavorite" a little history: A GRAND DAY OUT was Nick Park's first film with Wallace and Gromit and was made while he was a struggling student... Aardman stepped in and agreed to help finish the film with a guaranteed job for Nick Park... without A GRAND DAY OUT the other two films would certainly not have been made and while the other two films are the best, this first short also deserves a look at... AND LOOK FOR THEIR FIRST UPCOMING FEATURE FILM OUT IN OCTOBER 2005!!!

Be careful. Yes, this is a DVD, and a great one to boot, but you can buy the VHS tape in any $1 store anywhere. I am not quite sure it is worth the $15 price tag, or the crazy amount the collector's are trying to seel you for. Beware.

Wallace and Gromit- A Grand Day Out is a mediocre film. The main characters, Wallace and Gromit, are a man and a dog that are in the world of animation.
Basically, the story is about Wallace's hunt for cheese for tea time. They go to the moon to find cheese but they're not alone on the moon. Wallace and Gromit deserve a three out of five stars because some of the writing was a little unrealistic. Some of the movie was comedy aimed at viewers between five year olds and fourteen year olds. The movie looked like it was all claymation.

Wallace and Gromit is a clever cartoon short, which could be an all time classic. Starting in Wallace's living room, the main characters, Wallace and Grommit, soon discover they have no cheese for tea-time to go with their crackers and decide to blast off to the moon in a home-made spaceship in search of cheese. After landing on the moon, they try the cheese only to be pursued by a 1960s kitchen appliance, the guardian of the moon. Wallace and Grommit has a refreshing and carefree originality, and a quirky plot. Director Nick Park has an uncanny knack for believably leading the viewer from the cheeky living room sequence to the frenetic chase sequence. The downside of Wallace and Grommit is that it has a childish plot and certain aspects of it leave the audience frowning. In this cheesy yet clever, animated comedy short, Wallace and his pet dog Gromit live alone in 1960s London. While the two are planning their Bankholiday vacation, right before tea time, they discover that they have no cheese. Hell-bent for cheese, they decide to have their holiday in the one place to find cheese, the moon. The movie has almost a split personality, combining slapstick comedy for the children and some crude humor for the adults. Altogether it's an enjoyable film, but it may not catch the eye of older teens.
