The Care Bears were a line of multicolored teddy bears that racked up more than $200 million in retail sales in 1984. The Care Bears Movie was essentially a 75-minute commercial to introduce the new Care Bear Cousins, disguised as a smarmy story about sharing feelings. The film earned $23 million theatrically and ushered in a spate of cheap animated films created to sell merchandise to children. The plot interweaves the stories of Kim and Jason, two lonely orphans who have given up caring, and of Nicholas, a friendless magician's assistant who's seduced by an evil spirit. The Care Bears resolve everyone's problems. Years later, the Care Bears' popularity has waned and the film stands as a reminder of one of the less admirable uses of animation. The stars, hearts, rainbows, and saccharine songs can't disguise the barefaced commercialism behind the threadbare story. --Charles Solomon |

 Terrible for kids, May 7, 2023
I though I was getting a harmless piece of fluff when I sat down to watch this movie with my 4-year old, but I was infuriated to find that it contained many scary scenes that were completely inappropriate for a preschooler. Why they felt the need to include such an overtly frightening storyline is beyond me. Plus, they obviously made this movie on the cheap. The animation is terrible! And the whole movie is designed to sell products. This is not a good movie for preschoolers.

Low rating for educational content.. you have to search real hard for any meaning. However- if you'd like your children to put their little brains in auto-pilot (remaining transfixed and mezmorized for the duration of this mindless, saccarin sweet low budget tripe) then this movie does the trick. I couldn't bear it.. diabetes overdose far too painful for me, but my 2 year old and 4 month old loved it.
Somebody tell me how a studio gets away with making an extended musical snuggle dryer sheet advertisment and calling it a movie!

 A great childhood memory fit for the kids, Feb 16, 2023
I remember i used to watch this movie over and over when i was a young child. Years later this copy, having been well loved, was worn out an no longer able to play. But to my surprise i spotted this dvd in my local Kroger and immediatly bought it. It was such a joy to sit down and relive a piece of my childhood which a one point had been forgotten. What is even better is that this dvd is safe for all kids, not like the movies that have been coming out recently and you have to keep away from your kids because of voilence and language. Plus it is filled with vivid colors and music sure to keep your child entertained.
Entertain your childre like your parents entertained you, get them Care Bears....their fun, safe, and educational. You cant go wrong.

Great Movie to Recommend, Feb 2, 2023
I recall watching this as a kid and loved it. The songs are great. Recently, I rented this for my 3-year old and got stuck with late fees because she loves it and doesn't want to give it back. To surprise her, I bought her own Care Bears Movie on DVD. The first time I watched it with her brought memories when I was a kid and loved the care bears. Surprisingly, I remembered all of the songs. These type of cartoons and others I grew up with, are so much better than today's cartoons. Definitely a good movie to recommend.

Super Duper Fun, Dec 17, 2022
I watched this movie, and I was blown back by the amazing production value, and the stellar voice cast. And believe me, it takes a lot to please this hard-core Care Bears fan. But this was what I was waiting for. After years of waiting for them to do it right, they finally did it. Recomended for anyone over 17.
