Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Fifteen-year-old Mia Thermopolis, the witty, lovable star of Meg Cabot's The Princess Diaries, has had it with princess lessons, also known as torture sessions: "Do they really think anyone in Genovia cares whether I know how to use a fish fork? Or if I can sit down without getting wrinkles in the back of my skirt? Or if I know how to say 'thank you' in Swahili? Shouldn't my future countrymen be more concerned with my views on the environment? And gun control? And overpopulation?" To make matters worse, she's getting these lessons from Grandmère, a rather judgmental woman who dresses her pet in chinchilla bolero jackets and has eyeliner permanently tattooed on her eyelids. Princess in the Spotlight further records Mia's path to princessdom: her artist mother's relationship with her algebra teacher (how awkward), her forced television interview, broadcast to all of America (how humiliating), and her crush on her best friend Lilly's brother Michael (how excruciating). The result is another thoroughly entertaining diary of a very human, very self-deprecating, very unprincesslike princess. (Ages 12 and older) --Karin Snelson |

Princess in the Spotlight, Apr 17, 2023 This review is on Princess in the Spotlight, by Meg Cabot. The story is about Mia Thermopolis. Mia doesn't have an average girl's life. She is the princess of Genovia and has to take princess lessons from her Grandmere. If that wasn't enough, her mom has just found out that she is pregnant. Still if that wasn't enough, the person she is pregnant with is Mia's algebra teacher, Mr. Gianini. (Mia's mom is planning on getting married to him). Also her Grandmere decided she was going to surprise Mia by putting her on an interview. Mia was very unhappy about that. While only a few days from the interview Mia gets a bad cold. While she's home from school she gets a love letter, but not signed by anyone. Who will it be? The characters in the book are: Mia, Mia's mother, Mia's Grandmere, Mia's dad, Mia's stepfather, her best friend, Lilly, and her cousin, Hank. I recommend this book to preteens and teenagers, grades 6 and up, because it has some material that younger kids might not understand. I love this book because it has so many great parts to it. It's a book I never wanted to put down because it had so many unexpected things in it, which is great. Out of 5 stars I give this book a 5!

Princess in the Spotlight is hilarious, and unpredictable!, Apr 3, 2023 No one ever said being a princess was easy. Well, in Princess in the Spotlight, Princess Mia faces more duties in being a princess. Her mom gets pregnant and gets married, Mia gets interviewed with almost her whole school watching it, and last but not least, an anonymous admirer letter. Continue the story by reading the book.

The princess is back in action., Mar 21, 2023 This book is about the on going tale of Mia and her problems with being a princess. Mia is now receving notes from a screat addmirer. She is deeply hoping they are from Michael, her long sought after prince. Through out the whole book Mia is still attending the dreaded princess lessons that bore on week after week.

An Enjoyable Story, Mar 21, 2023 Mia's adventures of a princess continue in this delightful sequel. Cabot does an admirable job of combining a coming-of-age story with a fairytale. I highly recommend it for teens 13 and up.
On that note, what is it with all of you parents who purchase this book for your nine-year-old, then complain that it's not a kids' book. THERE'S A REASON WHY IT'S ON THE YOUNG ADULT SHELF AND NOT IN THE KIDS' SECTION OF THE BOOKSTORE!!! IT'S NOT THE DISNEY MOVIE - I REPEAT - THE MOVIES ARE NEVER THE SAME AS THE BOOK. DUH!!!!!! INSTEAD OF WHINING ABOUT HOW YOUR LITTLE BRAT READ SOMETHING INAPPROPRIATE, TAKE THE TIME TO READ SOME REVIEWS OF THE BOOK SO YOU'RE NOT UNPLEASANTLY SURPRISED! I'M SICK OF ALL YOU PRUDES PUTTING DOWN GOOD LITERATURE BECAUSE YOU, YES YOU Y-O-U DIDN'T DO YOUR JOB AS A PARENT!!!!!!!!!!!
