River? Who's River? And what, were he capable of speech, would Ken say? In the My Scene line of dolls for pre-teen girls, Barbie has cast off her more career-minded incarnations (veterinarian, astronaut, and so on) and has been recast as a boy-crazy teenager with a beau named River. Barbie wears a sequined skirt, a black denim top with a sheer dress shirt underneath, topped off with a neck tie. Her makeup is more aggressive, making her look more like on of the Lil Bratz, or possibly early-career Christina Aguilera, than the Barbie we've come to know over the years. River dons pinstriped pants, a black jacket, and a paisley shirt and has a huge shock of dark brown hair. We know that wherever he is Ken is probably smiling but that's only because Ken is always smiling. Inside, we know he must be hurting. --Charlie Williams |

I think this doll is great!Butt I have not seen a bendable nolee doll yet and she's my favorite. plus I'm going on vacation soon to Arazona on 6/16/05 and I wanted a nolee doll for my trip but it's not as cool if she's not bendable.

I bought this set for mainly barbie and I am so glade I did. She is the most beautiful my scene barbie yet.My favorite by far the only bad thing about her was the hair was REALLY SHORT in the back ,but fixed that.Barbie also has real eye lashes,and she's a limited editon.So if you haven't got her get before they run out.

Good going Barbie, these are the prettiest Barbies yet! My daughter and I like them much better than those Bratz dolls. The Bratz look hideous, especially without their shoes/feet on. I went out and got her a My Scene Barbie because they are prettier, easy to dress, and the shoes go on and off better. Buy Barbies or My Scene Barbies instead of the Bratz!

Oh, man! I was so excited to see this set. Not only is it my new favorite play line of Barbie dolls, the My Scene gang, but it features Barbie with *rooted* eyelashes (hooray!) and an outfit reminiscent of the ever-popular vintage "Solo in the Spotlight". So, naturally, I bought it. The box it comes in is so cute. It features a backdrop scene, and Barbie and River with "thought bubbles" above their heads, wondering if they like each other. Too cute. But, I'm a de-boxer, so Barbie and River had to come out of their box. And, I have to say, this time I wish I had left them in the box. Let's start with River. He is one handsome doll! But, what's with the outfit's top? I was looking forward to seeing a fantastic silky shirt topped with a nice jacket. But, much to my chagrin, the shirt is a "faux" shirt - just a shirt collar and cuffs sewn to a rather think jacket. His pinstripe pants are nice, though. Oh, well. On to Barbie. Barbie's outfit is really cool. Unlike River, she has a real lacy blouse underneath her black denim bustier. And her skirt! Stretchy, glittery, flouncy - perfect! And I couldn't be happier with her facial screening. But now - the horror! The horror! Her hair! The packaged doll looks like she has long, wavy, gorgeous hair, in a pulled back style with long tendrils hanging out. Well, let me tell you - this is the furthest from the truth. Yes, there are long tendrils. 4 to be exact. But the rest of her hair is cropped to shoulder-length. In the box, it looks fine. Out of the box, it is a nightmare. I have no idea what to do with this girl's hair. So my advice is, if you get this set (and I do recommend that you do), leave it in the box!!
