But I won't order it from Amazon, May 18, 2023 After speaking to both Amazon and Linksys customer service, no one can tell me what version I will get. Amazon doesn't have the version information and Linksys says that the distribution channel used to ship for Amazon contains mixed inventory so there is no way to know or predict what version will be shipped. Too bad to lose all the other great things about Amazon over sloppy supply chain management.

Be careful when purchasing, Dec 19, 2022 Make sure you get a BEFCMU10 v3 ***NOT*** the v2. There is a well-document problem with the v2 units below a certain firmware level, and Linksys refuses to acknowledge the problem. Search for "BEFCMU10 lockup" in your favorite search engine. Worse, since it's a DOCSIS cable modem, it has to receive updates from your cable provider and many of them refuse to acknowledge this, telling you to talk to the hardware vendor.
This unit works well unless you exceed some traffic threshold. If you use this unit with a broadband router and have multiple computers in your house, you use peer-to-peer file sharing programs, you try to download email while updating your computer, etc., the modem will lock up and need to be rebooted.
Some posters online have been able to get both Linksys and their cable provider to coorperate and get them the updated firmware, but many others can't. I got my cable provider to acknowledge that they needed to provide me with the firmware, but Linksys refused to acknowledge there was a problem, even when pointing out online accounts of this problem and them successfully getting updates.

Unhappy Amazon Shopper, Dec 10, 2022 I was extremely disappointed with Amazon for listing this product and selling it to me without advising me that there was at least two more recent versions of the product. Amazon shipped me version 2 of this modem which is not even supported anymore. It was my cable company who alerted me to the fact that I was screwed by Amazon, and that there is a version 3 and a version 4 available. No where in the information provided by Amazon did they reveal the fact that there were other versions of this product. I'll have to think hard and long before purchasing anything from Amazon again.

Mystified by this bad modem, Nov 14, 2022 It caused my computer to crash. The microsoft error message blamed the modem's version 3 driver. Tech support emailed me a beta version - but still no fix. Some have suggested the problem lies with the ISP, but Comcast techs weren't any help with it. (They insisted everything looked fine on their end.) Come on, guys, a modem shouldn't be tricky. I had planned to purchase a Linksys wireless router -- but not after dealing with this piece of junk.
