She has a precocious 3-year-old sister who tends to leave wet nappies at the foot of her bed, an insane cat who is prone to leg-shredding "Call of the Wild" episodes, and embarrassing parents who make her want to escape to Stonehenge and dance with the Druids. No wonder 14-year-old Georgia Nicolson laments, "Honestly, what is the point?" A Bridget Jones for the younger set, Georgia records the momentous events of her life--and they are all momentous--in her diary, which serves as a truly hilarious account of what it means to be a modern girl on the cusp of womanhood. No matter that her particular story takes place in England, the account of her experiences rings true across the ocean (and besides, "Georgia's Glossary" swiftly eradicates any language barriers).

The author, Louise Rennison, is a British comedy writer and it shows. Whether Georgia is dealing with wearing a bra ("OK, it's a bit on the loose side and does ride up round my neck if I run for the bus"), pondering kissing and how to know which way to turn your head ("You don't want to be bobbing around like pigeons for hours"), or managing the results of an overzealous eyebrow-plucking episode ("Obviously, now I have to stay in forever"), she always cracks us up. Georgia struggles with the myriad issues facing teen girls--boys, of course being at the forefront--but she does it with such humor and honesty it almost seems like a good time. This refreshingly funny book is ripe for a sequel, which readers will await in droves. (Ages 11 and older). --Brangien Davis

Book Description

Angus:
My mixed-breed cat, half domestic tabby, half Scottish wildcat. The size of a small Labrador, only mad.

Thongs:
Stupid underwear. What's the point of them, anyway? They just go up your bum, as far as I can tell.

Full-Frontal Snogging:
Kissing with all the trimmings, lip to lip, open mouth, tongues ... everything.

Her dad's got the mentality of a Teletubby (only not so developed). Her cat, Angus, is trying to eat the poodle next door. And her best friend thinks she looks like an alien -- just because she accidentally shaved off her eyebrows. Ergghhhlack. Still, add a little boy-stalking, teacher-baiting, and full-frontal snogging with a Sex God, and Georgia's year just might turn out to be the most fabbitty fab fab ever!

5Awesome book!, Sep 18, 2023
This book is a fantastic start to Louise Rennison's series. Great for teenage girls, or women looking to have a laugh. Georgia's many problems will keep you hooked for hours laughing out loud. Do not read this book in public!

2Basically, it's a chick flick piled into a book, Sep 15, 2023
When my teacher first told me about this book, I was not quite sure if I had wanted to read it or not, because it seemed as if it would be quite girly, and boy was I right. The full title of this hysterical yet horrendous book is Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging: Confessions of Georgia Nicolson. The author of the book is Louise Rennison. This is exactly what I would think of if I took the ultimate chick flick movie and piled it all into a book. It is an amusing diary of a fourteen year old girl who is searching for that special someone. The content is rather explicit, but not to a sickly point of having to put the book down and gag because of how disgusting and perverted it may be. This isn't that at all, it's more like a story of a young girl who finds herself after all of her misadventure. My favorite part would have to be all of Georgia's dirty, clever, quite implausible plans. The outrageousness of them made me laugh because no normal teenager would ever think of these ludicrous plans, and her strategy used in them was amazing as well. They were way out of the box and I admit, amusing, but they were probably the only funny thing in this book. My least favorite part was probably the rest of the book, and it may just be because I am a boy, but this book was definitely not my favorite book of all time. I would have to recommend it to all girls, because I believe that in many ways they could relate to Georgia and her teenage thoughts, and I especially recommend it to girls who are feeling blue, because this comedy of a book should cheer them right up. On an ending note, I would have to say that yes, this book is funny, but it was not for me, so I would probably give it two and a half stars out of five.

44.5 stars cuz its so darn funny, Aug 10, 2023
Hilarious Georgia Nicolson's life in her opinion is sad. Her father has the mentality of a tellatubie her uncle is as bald as a coot her little sister is as crazy as the Mad Hatter although adorable her mother is always trying to be "in" and "hip" and Georgia's friends are just as kooky. And when Georgia lays eyes on the hunky Robbie Jennings she sets out to make him (Robbie, the Sex God of the universe) hers. This book is hilarious and I would refrain from reading it in a public place because people will think you are mad with laughter-which you will be. J

5The best book EVER, Aug 10, 2023
At first when I saw this book, I thought, wow that looks stupid and a little too racey for me, a 13 year-old. Then I read the back and decided to read it just for fun. So after I bought it and got home, I read it in 4 hours. It was AWESOME. The next day I went back and bought the next book, and then I ended up reading all 6. I hope Louise Rennison puts out more of these books. They're all just pure enjoyable and funny. You don't feel like you're reading a book, more like a diary. I found this book to be like a younger version of Bridget Joans's Diary. If you want to laugh, read this book, and the other 5.

This book is really, really funny. It has a great plot. I think that a lot of teenage girls can relate to Georgia.
